Stephora Alberi '25 recently was named a finalist for the Rhodes Scholarship, one of the world's oldest and most prestigious international graduate awards. She also is a finalist for the Gates Cambridge Scholarship. Crediting her time at SU for these successes, she remains enrolled while conducting research at the University of Tartu, Estonia, on a David L. Boren Scholarship

¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ recently commemorated 25 years of partnership with the University of Málaga (UMA) during a visit to the institution in southern Spain, led by SU President Carolyn Ringer Lepre. A highlight was a meeting between Lepre and Juan Teodomiro López Navarrete, UMA rector, to review past successes and to explore opportunities to continue to grow the partnership.

Delmarva Public Media: Artificial Intelligence Transforming Lives on the Eastern Shore

The world is struggling now to keep up with Artificial Intelligence. On the Eastern Shore, businesses are also trying to understand this transforming technology. Help in the form of research and innovation is not far away. ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ recently received a $380,000 grant from the National Science Foundation, specifically to spread the gospel of AI to rural areas like the Eastern Shore. Dr. Clifton Griffin, dean of graduate studies and research, sees part of the Rural AI Solutions and Engagement Project as a way to demystify the new technology.

WBOC: SU Students Donate Blood on Giving Tuesday

The Blood Bank of Delmarva held a blood drive at ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ for Giving Tuesday. Students, staff, and community members donated blood in the Guerrieri Student Union. Keira Lucas, a freshman nursing student, said working at TidalHealth has allowed her to understand why donating blood is so important: "It's very difficult for some of the patients that have gone through a lot of blood loss when we don't have blood." Holding the blood drive on campus gave students the opportunity to donate while they were busy with classes.

Members of the ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Marching Band recently joined the Washington Commanders Marching Band for a joint rehearsal in District Heights, Md., giving Sea Gull musicians a chance to practice alongside one of the NFL’s most visible ensembles. Students learned the team’s fight song, “Hail to the Commanders,” directly from the pros during a weekly practice session attended by musicians who perform before tens of thousands of fans at every Washington home game.

WMDT: ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Firefighters Train at SU Building

Fire can strike without warning, and the ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Fire Department is working to stay prepared — including at local schools. Firefighters recently trained inside a ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥-owned building slated for demolition. Crews practiced search techniques, rapid-intervention skills and basement operations — procedures they say can save lives when seconds matter. The building, along with several nearby properties, was purchased by the SU Foundation, Inc. in 2017 and currently has no redevelopment plans.
