Borrowing Equipment

SU student, faculty, and staff can borrow many different kinds of devices from the SU Libraries to help them with school work, research, and more.

Equipment Available

All equipment can be checked out by SU students, faculty, and staff. Community members with a library card can check out basic headphones.

Windows Laptops

Laptops are equipped with a webcam and trackpad. Each laptop is checked out with a charger and charging cable.

iPads

iPads are checked out with a charging brick, charging cable, and an optional Apple Pencil (stylus). Apple Smart Keyboards are available as well in limited quantities.

Replacement fees are charged when an iPad becomes 5 days overdue. A refund will be given if the device is returned within a year of the due date. Patrons who return iPads more than 5 days late may lose their iPad borrowing privileges.
Chromebooks

Chromebooks are equipped with a webcam and trackpad. Each Chromebook is checked out with a charger and charging cable.

Charging Kits

Charging Kits include a portable battery and cables to charge the most common phone types as well as for TI-84 graphing calculators. Phone cables included are USB-C, Lightning, and Micro USB.

MacBook Chargers

MacBook Chargers come with a charging brick and USB-C charging cable. While these chargers may work with other non-Apple devices that charge with USB-C, we discourage using them with laptops from other brands. If you choose to use the charger with a different brand of laptop, the library cannot assume responsibility for damage caused by using an incompatible charger.

Basic and Noise-Canceling Headphones

We check out several different types of headphones. Basic headphones allow you to connect to a library computer or personal device using a standard audio cable. Noise-canceling headphones can connect over Bluetooth or using a provided audio cable.

External DVD Drives

External DVD Drives allow you to connect a DVD drive to another device, such as a library computer or personal laptop. These drives connect to a computer using a USB-A cable. These are most commonly used to watch DVDs checked out from the library on a computer in the building, as most do not have built-in DVD drives.
