SU Libraries Collections

Whether you're looking for a physical book, an article available online, or a primary source document, the SU Libraries Collections have resources in the formats that work best for you.

We offer several resources to help you get oriented and find materials in the library.  (the ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Resource Finder) is the best place to start. It allows you to search for most physical and digital materials available through the library, such as books, e-books, articles, journals, and more.

For digital items, you will find a link directly to the resource in SURF. For physical items, SURF will provide a collection and a call number for the item. You can use our to locate a book on our shelves once you have this information. If you’re having trouble finding an item, take a look at our , or you can if you can't locate it where it should be on our shelves.

Searching Our Collections

SURF is the ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Resource Finder and can be used to locate most — but not all — of the materials you have access to through the SU Libraries. SURF can be used to find books, journals, and articles, whether physical or electronic, and DVDs, CDs, and other physical materials. However, materials in SOAR@SU and the Nabb Center’s archival collections may not be findable through SURF.

Digital Collections

Our digital collections allow you to access library resources from anywhere. An SU login may be required to access some digital resources.

Finding Digital Materials with SURF

You can to search for many of the electronic resources available in our collections. To limit your search to materials available online only, select the "Available Online" filter in the sidebar under the "Availability" heading.

Note that while the majority of our digital collections are accessible through SURF, some are only available by searching in databases directly.

Library Databases

Use our A-Z Database List to see a list of every database we provide access to, sorted from A to Z. This list includes resources SU students, faculty, and staff have access to through library subscriptions as well as open access materials that are free to all. You can search by database name and by subject or just browse all databases alphabetically.

Institutional Repository

SOAR@SU is SU’s institutional repository, providing open access to scholarly, professional, and creative works by SU faculty, staff, and students.

Finding Aid Portal

The Nabb Center archival collections encompass a diverse group of historical collections found in the Local History Archives, University Archives, and Special Collections. The Finding Aid Portal provides written descriptions of the materials in those collections, as well as their affiliated artifacts, to help facilitate access for researchers. Requesting a collection within the Finding Aid Portal will initiate the process to view that collection in our research room located on the 4th floor of the Guerrieri Academic Commons.

Physical Collections

Our physical collections are located in one of our library locations: the Main Library and the Nabb Research Center (both located in the Guerrieri Academic Commons) and the Curriculum Resource Center (located in Conway Hall). Most materials can be checked out and taken out of the building by visiting the service desk located in that location; however, some materials are non-circulating and must be used in the library.
