Aurelie Van de Wiele
Bio
I hold a Ph.D. in French Studies from Rice University. My research examines how socioeconomic inequalities are portrayed and debated in 19th- and 20th-century French literature. Check out my latest book, a co-edited volume titled Marginal Paris: Representing the Shadows of the City of Light (2024)! In my teaching, I have developed civic course projects to support undeserved populations, including initiatives geared toward the local Haitian community. I am also the supervisor of and volunteer for the SU Prison Book Discussion at the Eastern Correctional Institution in Westover (MD). My current pedagogical focus is on integrating career readiness in my teaching by designing a course and minor in Intercultural Competence for the Workplace.
